Fresh, Quick, Tasty and ...

  • 19 August 2016
Our reason for being and our food philosophy revolves around “fresh, quick and tasty”. When we started Daily Dish I thought finding a way to provide a food service that delivers on this philosophy was enough, but we’ve found it to be so much more rewarding.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Most of us lead busy and stressful lives and we need to find time and energy to make sure we eat as healthily as possible. The temptation for many of us is to fill our fridges with convenience foods and rely on the odd take-out when time is really constrained. I’m always interested to see what people have in their baskets when I stand in the checkout queue at the supermarket – and it’s often a lot of convenience food.

What's for Dinner?

I remember doing the same. It’s better to have “ready-made” food than take-out right? I also remember my son saying, “Mom, I really can’t eat this food any more. I can taste the preservatives and it’s really boring eating the same old, same old all the time.” This was one of my prime motivators four years ago to find a solution to the daily “what’s for dinner?” dilemma. I wanted to have delicious tasting food on hand every night without having to do the supermarket schlepp AND I wanted to be able to cook it quickly. No remembering to pre-marinate the night before, or defrost in the morning or 2-hour oven cooking times!

And ... Unexpected Joy

So we love dishes that take around 30 minutes to cook, super fresh ingredients, the novelty and variety of tasting all kinds of new and interesting flavours and dishes. But most of all, and quite unexpectedly we love the camaraderie, closeness, sociability, togetherness and pure happiness that cooking together brings. It’s just such fun!
