Green Fig & Camembert Sandwich

Toasted sourdough sandwich, oozing with camembert and topped with green fig preserve.




Ingredients to serve 2

  • 1 loaf x sourdough
  • 1 round x camembert
  • 60g x Brenda's green fig preserve
  • butter (from your pantry)

Ingredients to serve 4

  • 2 loaves x sourdough
  • 2 rounds x camembert
  • 120g x Brenda's green fig preserve
  • butter (from your pantry)

Method

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180◦C. When hot, bake the sourdough loaves for 15 minutes. Remove and allow to cool for 5 minutes.

Step 2

Cut the camembert into thin slices (2 to 3mm). Slice the green figs.

Step 3

Slice the sourdough loaf – 4 slices per person. Assemble the sandwich by adding a layer of camembert, then a layer of figs on half the slices. Drizzle over a little of the fig syrup. Top with the other slice.

Step 4

Place a large frying pan on medium to high heat. Add a few knobs of butter to the pan and allow to melt. Fry the sandwiches for a minute or two on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melting.

Step 5

To serve, cut in half and eat right away.
