Super Beef Burgers

Healthy, pure steak mince burgers on a bun with salad, pickles, tomato. Topped with bacon and mature cheddar.

Ingredients to serve 2

  • 75g x Homestyle bacon
  • 300g x steak mince
  • ½ x onion – chop finely
  • 5g x fresh parsley – chop
  • 1 x eggs (from your pantry)
  • 25g x mature cheddar – grate coarsely
  • 40g x salad leaves
  • 1 x tomatoes – slice
  • 25g x dill pickles – slice
  • ½ x red onion – slice finely
  • 2 x burger buns
  • butter (from your pantry)
  • salt & pepper (from your pantry)

Ingredients to serve 4

  • 150g x Homestyle bacon
  • 600g x steak mince
  • 1 x onion – chop finely
  • 10g x fresh parsley – chop
  • 2 x eggs (from your pantry)
  • 50g x mature cheddar – grate coarsely
  • 80g x salad leaves
  • 2 x tomatoes – slice
  • 50g x dill pickles – slice
  • 1 x red onion – slice finely
  • 4 x burger buns
  • butter (from your pantry)
  • salt & pepper (from your pantry)


Step 1

Prepare all ingredients as indicated above.

Step 2

Place a large frying pan on medium to high heat and fry the bacon until crispy – about 5 minutes. Transfer to a plate and set aside.

Step 3

In a bowl, mix the following ingredients together (you can use your hands): steak mince, chopped onion (white onion), parsley and eggs. Season well with salt and pepper. Shape the mince into a patty – one per person.

Step 4

Return the frying pan you cooked the bacon in to the stove (medium to high heat). Add a knob of butter and when hot, add the patties (no overlapping). They should sizzle when they hit the pan (if the pan is hot enough). Cook the patties for about 4 to 6 minutes per side. Make sure they are nicely browned and cooked through.

Step 5

Cut the burger buns in half and toast lightly.

Step 6

To assemble the burgers, place half a bun on each plate. Add layers of salad leaves, tomato, dill pickles and red onion slices on top. Then add the burger patty, grated cheese and a slice of bacon. Top with the other half of the bun. Serve immediately.
