Pork with Creamy Potato Gratin

Winter is coming and who needs a wall when this creamy cabbage and creamy potato gratin with tomato dressed beans and crispy pork is here to keep the entire family and home warm.

Ingredients to serve 2

  • 2 x Pork Sirloin Steaks
  • 300g x Potatoes - thinly sliced
  • 150ml x DD White Cheddar Cheese Sauce
  • 50g x White Cheddar
  • 5g x BBQ Spice
  • 100g x Cabbage - finely shredded
  • 150g x Green Beans - stem end trimmed
  • 15g x Crushed Garlic
  • 5g x Italian Flat Leaf Parsley - chopped
  • 45ml x DD Tomato Vinaigrette Base
  • Salt and Pepper (from your pantry)
  • Olive Oil (from your pantry)
  • Bowl of Ice Water (from your pantry)

Ingredients to serve 4

  • 4 x Pork Sirloin Steaks
  • 600g x Potatoes - thinly sliced
  • 300ml x DD White Cheddar Cheese Sauce
  • 100g x White Cheddar
  • 10g x BBQ Spice
  • 200g x Cabbage - finely shredded
  • 300g x Green Beans - stem end trimmed
  • 30g x Crushed Garlic
  • 10g x Italian Flat Leaf Parsley - chopped
  • 90ml x DD Tomato Vinaigrette Base
  • Salt and Pepper (from your pantry)
  • Olive Oil (from your pantry)
  • Bowl of Ice Water (from your pantry)


Before You Begin

Prepare your ingredients & cooking utensils: Use a chopping board and lay all the ingredients out. Take out any “Pantry Items”. Preheat your oven to 220°C. Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil for use in Step 2.

Washing Instruction

Wash your hands, potatoes, green beans and cabbage well. Rinse your Italian flat leaf parsley thoroughly and drain on paper towel.

Gino's Tip

It's best to use the back end of a spoon or a silicone spatula to spread your cheese sauce over the potatoes.

Step 1 - Cheesy Potato Gratin

Toss your thinly sliced potatoes in a large mixing bowl along with a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper. Flatpack onto an oven tray and pop into the oven for 15 minutes. While your potatoes are roasting, heat a large casserole pan over medium-high heat add a drizzle of olive oil and sauté your shredded cabbage and crushed garlic for 4-5 minutes with a dash of water and covered with a lid. After the 15 minutes, your potatoes should be just about tender, make layers in a small/medium baking dish (using a thin egg lifter helps transfer your potatoes), add your sautéed cabbage and cover by layering with your potatoes, cover with your DailyDish Cheese Sauce - See Gino's Tip. Sprinkle over your grated white cheddar and BBQ spice and pop back into the oven for 8-10 minutes until your sauce is bubbly and your cheese has gratinated.

Step 2 - Tomato Green Beans

Once the water in your large saucepan has come to the boil, cook your green beans for 5-6 minutes until tender. Remove with a slotted spoon and immediately shock in your ice water - this stops the cooking and helps maintain that awesome green colour. Give your large mixing bowl a quick clean and once your green beans are done, toss them along with your chopped Italian flat-leaf parsley, season with salt and pepper to taste and reserve in the fridge until you're ready to serve. Dress with your DailyDish Tomato Vinaigrette Base and a few drizzles of olive oil.

Step 3 - Seared Pork Sirloin

Season your pork sirloin steaks with salt and pepper. Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat, add a dash of olive oil and fry your pork sirloin steak for 3-4 minutes on each side until completely cooked through.

To Serve

Divide your cheesy potato gratin amongst your servings and top with your seared pork sirloin steak, served with your tomato green beans.
