Solo: Berbere Steak with Tomato, Corn and Greens S

Delicately spiced aged beef pan-seared with nutty butter served with a bloody mary style dressed corn, tomato, and green bean salad finished with luscious avocado.

Ingredients to serve 1

  • 1 x Sirloin Steak
  • 2.5g x DD Spice Mix - berbere
  • 1 x Corn on the Cob - See Gino's Tip
  • 100g x Cherry Tomatoes - halved
  • ¼ x Red Onion - thinly sliced
  • 50g x Green Beans - stem end trimmed
  • ½ x Avocado - halved, pip removed, peeled and diced
  • 2.5g x Chives - chopped
  • 45ml x DD Tomato Vinaigrette Base
  • 10g x Butter (from your pantry)
  • Salt and Pepper (from your pantry)
  • Olive Oil (from your pantry)


Before You Begin

Prepare your ingredients & cooking utensils: Use a chopping board and lay all the ingredients out. Take out any “Pantry Items”

Washing Instruction

Wash your hands, corn on the cob, cherry tomatoes, and green beans well. Rinse your chives thoroughly and drain on paper towel.

Gino's Tip

Place the small bowl upside-down inside a large bowl. Then stand the corn on top of the smaller bowl, and use a sharp knife to slice down along the cob. Instead of flying every which way, the kernels will collect at the bottom of the bowl.

Step 1 - Corn and Tomato Warm Salad

Heat a large casserole pan over med-high heat, add a drizzling of olive oil and once your pan is hot, fry your green beans and corn kernels for 5-6 minutes until charred and tender. Remove your pan from the heat and add your halved cherry tomatoes and sliced red onions, taste, and season with salt and pepper. Once done mix through your DailyDish Tomato Vinaigrette Base and chopped chives.

Step 2 - Berbere Steak

Season your steaks with salt and pepper and rub with your DailyDish Spice Mix. Heat a large frying pan over med-high heat, add a drizzling of olive oil, and once your pan is hot but not smoking fry your sirloin steaks for 2-3 minutes on each side or cooked until your desired doneness, whether this is longer or shorter than the prescribed time. Once done add your butter to the pan to froth and baste your steaks in the butter before removing the pan from the heat.

To Serve

Divide your corn and tomato salad amongst your servings, top with your diced avocado and serve with your berbere steak.
